UC Faculty Invited to Nominate STEM Graduates For Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowships
The following message is from the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation:
Dear Faculty,
We are seeking your nominations of college seniors and recent college graduates with STEM majors for consideration of the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship. Our mission is to recruit, prepare and retain effective teachers for the students and schools who need them most.
Recent college graduates and career changers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, or math) are supported with a $30,000 stipend to complete an intensive master's degree program at one of seventeen participating universities.
Competitive candidates will:
- Have completed an undergraduate degree in a STEM field by June 2013.
- Have graduated with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the program and its goals.
Fellows will:
- Complete a field-based master's degree in education
- Commit to teach for at least three years in a high-need school.
- Receive intensive mentoring support during their first three years in the classroom.
