Guest Speakers Come to UC Armed with the Law

As part of Business Law course for undergraduates in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, a number of prominent guest speakers are sharing ethics/social responsibility experiences in support of the college’s

PACE

program.

The Lindner College of Business is using the speaker series to further develop students' character, a vital element of PACE (Professionalism, Academics, Character and Engagement). PACE is a unique and holistic approach to business education that embodies attributes that faculty aspire to cultivate in undergraduate students before they graduate to the business world.

Two prominent judges, Patrick Fischer and Nathaniel Jones, join the effort to share their law and ethics knowledge with business students. Fischer is a First District Court of Appeals judge and president of the Ohio Bar Association.

Based on his 30 years of experience, Judge Fischer spoke Friday, October 12, 2012, about daily ethical dilemmas faced by business professionals. Jones is a retired Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals judge and employment law expert. Judge Jones will speak about the ethical challenges that arise in employment law at 10:05AM on Friday, October 19, 2012, in the Lindner College of Business, Room 112.

The lecture series that kicked off in September began with guest speaker James Helmer, a 1975 graduate of UC’s College of Law and Cincinnati trial lawyer who is an expert on the federal False Claims Act.
