Brian Wilson Field Dedicated - UC Clermont Cougars New Home

UC Clermont’s new home – Brian Wilson Field – was dedicated today. The baseball field was underwritten by Cincinnati Reds All-Star outfielder Jay Bruce and is officially the new home for the UC Clermont College Cougars Baseball Team. Bruce is honoring the former Reds scout, Wilson, who discovered and signed him along with several other Reds players, including Sam LeCure and Logan Ondrusek.

Wilson spent 13 years in the Reds organization as a player, coach and scout. He died of a heart attack in 2006 at the age of 33, having risen to the role of Texas Scouting Supervisor. He earned the reputation as one of the top evaluators and hardest workers in the Reds organization. He is survived by his wife Prairie and their three daughters, Carson, Conor and Curry, who attended the dedication and spoke about their father and his love of family and baseball.

Reds President and CEO Bob Castellini along with Reds announcer Marty Brennaman, Reds executives, Batavia Township trustees and UC Clermont officials were in attendance.

“We want to thank Jay Bruce and the Red’s Community Fund for partnering with the college and community to make this day possible. I told the Wilson family that UC Clermont College pledges to uphold and honor the memory of their father and husband, Brian Wilson, on and off the field,” said Dean Greg Sojka.
