Fountain Square to Feature Creative Video Thanks to Student in UC's Academic Internship Program

During summer semester, Neal Patrick, a psychology student in the University of Cincinnati

McMicken College of Arts & Sciences

, was selected as Social Venture Partner’s (SVP) UC student intern and Charitable Words Scholar.

During his internships, Patrick was challenged to learn and understand the story of SVP and then tell SVP’s story in a creative and visual way.

Patrick's goal was to create a video that if shown on the jumbotron and the narrative could not be heard, the images themselves would be so compelling that viewers would be motivated to learn more about SVP as an organization.

Social Venture Partners combines principles of good business with the passion of mission-driven philanthropy to provide innovative solutions to critical issues facing our society today. Partners invest their life skills and resources with nonprofit organizations that positively impact the quality of life in Greater Cincinnati. According to Joan Kaup, executive director of

SVP’s newest video, entitled “I’m a Better Person for It,” was a collaboration between SVP Cincinnati, Charitable Word Scholars and the

University of Cincinnati Academic Internship Program

.  SVP Partners Bruce Hager, Tom Callinan and Patrick Points worked with UC's Patrick to interview the SVP partners, photograph activities at the various SVP nonprofit organizations, draft a storyboard, and create graphics to produce a 2:45 minute video.

That video will premiere at

12:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3

, on the LED (light-emitting diode) jumbotron overlooking Fountain Square.
