Israel's College of Management Academic Studies Explores UC's Professional Development Programs

On Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, two representatives from Israel’s College of Management Academic Studies (COMAS) visited the University of Cincinnati.

The College of Management Academic Studies is Israel’s largest business and applied sciences college located just outside Tel Avi, Israel.

COMAS personnel came to the United States to explore ways to implement the concept of “education to employment” in their teaching and educational structure.

Tamar Almor and Rani Jacobi visited UC on behalf of COMAS. Tamar Almor, dean of students at COMAS, is spearheading this “education to employment – E2E” movement and oversees career services at COMAS. Rani Jacobi, vice president of marketing at COMAS, is closely involved in this initiative as well.

Their goal while in the United States was to meet with selected institutions to learn best practices and gather insights into how U.S. universities work with companies to provide programs and services that prepare students for their future careers.

While at UC, Almor and Jacobi had the opportunity to meet with faculty from the Division of Professional Practice & Experiential Learning, the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, and UC’s Career Services. Information Systems major Ariel Levi, a UC co-op student and dual citizen of Israel and the U.S., also met with Almor and Jacobi. UC's Levi did a great job of relating how UC's co-op program works. He described his personal experience and how he has benefited from UC's co-op program.

Additional stops among COMAS’s exploration of experiential learning programs and career services included MIT, Northeastern, Pace, and NYU.
