UC Blue Ash Professors/Authors Come Together for Book Signing

Five University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College professors who published new books this year are coming together for a special book-signing event on the college campus.

The event will be held on Monday, October 21 from noon – 1:00 p.m. in the Muntz Hall Community Commons on the UC Blue Ash campus (9555 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236).

“This is something we talked about over the summer.  It’s significant that all of us had books published within a few months of each other, and all of them are gaining a lot of popularity,” said Rhonda Pettit, Professor of English at UC Blue Ash and the author of Fetal Waters, a highly acclaimed new poetry book.

“This event and these books certainly speak to the quality and expertise of our professors. It is invigorating to be part of such a vibrant and active campus,” said Robin Lightner, Professor of Psychology at UC Blue Ash and co-editor with Professor Sue Sipple of the new book, Developing Faculty Learning Communities at Two-Year Colleges.

Also participating in the book signing are Mike Roos, Professor of English, and John McNay, Professor of History. Professor McNay’s new book, Collective Bargaining and the Battle of Ohio, documents the controversial history of Senate Bill 5.  The bill would have limited collective bargaining among public employees across the state.  It was passed and signed into law in 2011, but opponents were quickly able to get it on the ballot as a referendum and it was repealed by voters that fall.  The book was released in August and has spent time in the top 100 on Amazon.com.

Roos’ new book, One Small Town, One Crazy Coach, documents the true story of the underdog 1963 Ireland High School basketball team in Ireland, Indiana.  It is published by the Indiana University Press and the first run of copies has already sold out.
