Lindner Team Among Three Vying for Spot in National Accounting Competition Finals

The team Greasy E’s — a group of accounting students from UC’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business — has been selected as one of three semifinalists in a national accounting competition and now need a Facebook blitz to advance.

To advance to the January 2014 finals of the PwC (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) National Challenge Accounting Case Competition in New York City, the Lindner team had to create and upload a video about their participation in the 2013 case competition. A national vote on the PwC Facebook page will determine which team moves on.

To vote for the Lindner team, fans can visit the PwC US Careers Facebook page beginning Nov. 19 until midnight, Sunday, Dec. 1. The school with the most votes will be announced Dec. 2 and will receive an invitation to the Challenge National Finals and a $10,000 prize.

Team members are Nate Bennett, BBA '15; Clark Henson, BBA '16; Tommy Kreyenhagen, BBA '16; Neil Mullen, BBA '16; and Jack Wells, BBA '15; (four are members of the Lindner Honors-PLUS Program). Their challengers include UC Berkeley and the University of Illinois Urbana to fill the fifth spot at finals. Other schools already in the finals include University of Arizona, University of Washington, Villanova University and Wake Forest University as winners of a Nov. 1 challenge competition.

At the earlier 2013 Accounting Challenge Competition held on Nov. 1 at UC, the Greasy E’s team competed against 13 other UC teams while 85 schools (925 teams total) across the nation competed simultaneously on that date. Winners from each school then submitted a video of their presentation to the national PwC office to whittle the winners down to five. However, a three-way tie for fifth place resulted in the vote contest through Facebook.
