Despite Weather, UC s Online MBA Launched on Jan. 6

The Carl H. Lindner College of Business' new online MBA program launched Jan. 6 despite the Polar Vortex that gripped the Tristate with bitter cold temperatures and closed the University of Cincinnati on Monday and Tuesday.

“The beauty of online is that like the post office, neither snow, nor rain, nor Polar Vortex will prevent students from working on the course,” says BJ Zirger, associate dean for online education in the Lindner College of Business.

Professionals around the country now have access to Lindner’s acclaimed MBA program as a 100 percent online version of the program has officially launched. U.S. News & World Report ranked the MBA program at the Lindner College of Business as one of the country’s Top 10 programs for Financial Value Upon Graduation in 2012. The Lindner MBA program also was recently ranked once again as one of the nation’s Top 100 programs by U.S. News & World Report.

“The online MBA program will be the same content and quality as our campus-based programs with the added flexibility of online delivery,” Zirger says.

The first cohort of new MBA online students is impressive, Zirger says, “with about half of the candidates having other graduate degrees or stellar GPAs from their undergraduate work.”

Initially the online MBA will operate as a part-time program with the same degree requirements that can be completed within two years’ time and, in the near future, Lindner plans to launch a full-time online MBA option. Applicants can choose from multiple start dates a year, with upcoming 2014 start dates of Feb. 24, May 12 and June 25 (application deadlines: Jan. 20, April 7 and May 19).

To meet the ever-growing demand for online programs and courses, the Lindner College of Business has launched several new online initiatives in the last three years. The college launched its first 100 percent online degree, a Master of Science in Taxation, in the fall of 2012. The college also partners with the College of Allied Health Sciences in an online Master of Health Administration and a Master of Health Informatics.
