UC Alum Directs Education for Worldwide Association
University of Cincinnati environmental engineering graduate and president of E3 Strategic Partners, Carol Clinton, is the new vice chair of the education council for the international Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA), a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that promotes global environmental responsibility and increases the effectiveness of organizations to make critical decisions that benefit society, according to A&WMA website.
Clinton took office on Jan. 1, 2014. From this post, she will succeed to become chair of the education council and member of the A&WMA Board of Directors. In her role with the education council, Clinton will lead the A&WMA program of webinars, in-person and on-line courses, and other offerings for environmental professionals, teachers and higher education providers, and the public.
Clinton says she looks forward to this new challenge of which UC has played an instrumental part. Its really an honor to have been elected to this position, and I truly believe my preparation from UC allowed me to have success in applying engineering concepts to a wide variety of perspectives industry, non-profits, government and academe, she said. That experience will help me craft education programs to benefit our members in all these fields. Plus I get to continue learning about all the cutting edge developments.
Clinton has over 30 years of experience in health, safety and environmental performance improvement from a unique combination of manufacturing (plant and headquarters), regulatory agency, and consulting engineering perspectives, with specialty areas including management systems development, training, auditing, and public outreach.
She has served in a variety of professional, civic, and academic organizations relating to the environment and education, is a published author of a book on plastics recycling, and is the founding director of UCs Rowe Center for Women in Engineering.
Clinton earned a doctorate in environmental engineering with a focus on sustainability in 2011, a master's of science in environmental engineering in 2008, and a bachelor's of science in civil engineering in 1981 from the University of Cincinnati.
She currently serves as president of E3 Strategic Partners (E3SP), a consulting firm specializing in environmental, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability risk management. Projects include carbon footprint analysis and reduction; international EHS auditing, training, compliance, due diligence, dangerous goods and product safety support for industrial and other clients. E3SP is a certified woman-owned business through the Ohio River Valley Womens Business Council headquartered in Cincinnati.
