UC Sociology Professor to Discuss Race and Location
Clybourne Park, a spin-off of Lorraine Hansberrys 1959 play A Raisin in the Sun, is now playing at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and it is opening up questions about the role of race and real estate in the Cincinnati community today.
McMicken College of Arts and Sciences associate professor of sociology Jeffrey Timberlake is joining the discussion in a community forum on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the United Way building in Walnut Hills.
Timberlake will be a member of a panel sponsored by Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME). Other members of the panel include Kathryne Gardette, president of Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, and "Clybourne Park" director Timothy Douglas.
"Clybourne Park" is showing at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park through Feb. 16.

Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. When plans switch up, it can be helpful to a student’s success to find support. For Jarrell, it was the people he worked alongside in the journalism department who helped him on his journey. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.
