UC Professor to Participate in Prestigious MIT/ESPN Sports Analytics Conference

Mike Magazine, professor of operations and business analytics at UC’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business, has been selected as a panelist at the annual

MIT Sloan Sports Conference

presented by ESPN.

Magazine, an Ohio Eminent Scholar, is one of five professors from around the country who was selected to participate because of their sports analytics teaching background. The conference runs Feb. 28-March 1 in Boston, and Magazine will serve on the panel “From the Classroom to the Locker Room: Teaching the Next Generation of Sports Analysts."

At the conference, Magazine will serve on a panel with fellow professors from Yale University, University of Southern California, University of Iowa and INSEAD. They will address such topics as the importance and methods of teaching a sports analytics course, and how analytics impact and change the management of sports.

The overall conference agenda will address a variety of subjects and include analytics on basketball, soccer, hockey and football; how to launch a career in sports; and the use of analytics for competitive advantage.
