UC Professor Wins International Honor

Charles H. Matthews, professor of entrepreneurship and strategy in UC’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business, will be honored as one of the newest Wilford L. White Fellows of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).

Named after the founder and visionary leader of the ICSB, Wilford L. White, the fellowship was created to encourage and enhance small business management and entrepreneurship in the U.S. and abroad.

As the highest form of recognition given to an individual by the ICSB, Wilford L. White Fellows have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the development, furtherance and benefit of small- and medium-size businesses.

The fellowship recognizes the accomplishments of the men and women whose passion and desire for small business and entrepreneurship is reflected in their writing, research, teaching, training and service to the public.

Only 70 distinguished individuals have been selected as a Wilford L. White Fellow since its founding in 1977.

Matthews is honored and humbled to have received this recognition and will be only one of four other entrepreneurship educators in the world to serve as president of and to be honored as a fellow by all three major small business and entrepreneurship professional associations.

He has served as past president and fellow of the Small Business Institute (SBI), the U.S. Association for Small Business & Entrepreneurship (USASBE), as well as the ICSB.

Matthews will receive his honor during the Gala Dinner at the 59

th

annual World Conference of the ICSB in Dublin, Ireland, on June 13.
