UC Blue Ash Student Wins Free Tuition

Rebecca Bauscher understands just how important it is to win free tuition for the summer at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. That’s because she is paying her own way through school.

The rising sophomore from Milford, Ohio, has worked since she was 14-years-old and says she tries to save every penny. She currently works at a dog-training academy while pursuing a business degree at UC Blue Ash. Her future plans are to eventually open her own dog-training business.

Bauscher won free tuition for the summer after her name was drawn from a pool of students who registered for summer classes by the April 28 deadline. “I was really surprised, I just kept looking at my phone with the email that said I won,” she said. “I had to email them back to make sure this was all true.”

The college offers an incentive for students to register early so they are able to get the classes and schedule they prefer. The free tuition drawing was created by UC Blue Ash Dean Cady Short-Thompson and is offered each semester.

The value for the summer tuition at UC Blue Ash is approximately $1,700. “We love to award scholarships and grants to our hard working and deserving students,” said Dean Short-Thompson. “I really admire Rebecca for paying her own way through college, and I’m delighted that we are able to take care of her tuition this summer.”

Bauscher said she chose to attend UC Blue Ash because her older sister graduated from there and really liked the college. As a graduate of Milford Christian Academy, Bauscher also found the idea of smaller class sizes (average 20 students per class) very appealing. “My graduating high school class only had 10 students, so I’m used to small classes.”

UC Blue Ash College is a regional college within the University of Cincinnati. It offers one of the best values in higher education with access to a nationally recognized UC education in nearly 50 degrees and certificates, as well as tuition that is about half of most colleges and universities. The college is located on a scenic 135-acre wooded campus in the heart of Blue Ash, Ohio.
