UC Blue Ash Announces New Director of Facilities/Campus Planning

Rob Knarr brings a wealth of experience and a strong background in higher education as he becomes the new director of facilities and campus planning for UC Blue Ash College.

Knarr is a structural engineer who comes to UC Blue Ash from the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he served as the director of real estate, construction and development. Prior to that, Knarr managed his own engineering firm and worked as a consultant before joining Northern Kentucky University’s Facility Management Division, where he spent nearly eight years as the associate director of architecture and construction services. His responsibilities at NKU included campus/facility planning, design, management and coordination for some of the largest and most complex projects in the university’s history.

In his new role at UC Blue Ash, Knarr will be responsible for co-managing construction projects and overseeing the existing facilities, grounds and maintenance of the college. There are five academic buildings covering approximately 300,000 square feet that are spread across the well-manicured, 135-acre campus.

“Rob is a dynamic leader with a lot of experience in managing major capital construction projects and developing green initiatives that will help make our college even more efficient and eco-friendly,” said Cady Short-Thompson, dean of UC Blue Ash College.

Knarr is registered as a professional engineer in Ohio and Kentucky, and he has served as a member of the Zoning Commission Board in Anderson Township, where he lives with his family. Knarr holds a Master of Business Administration from NKU, a Master of Science in structural engineering from UC, and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky.
