University of Cincinnati Press Director Search Committee Formed
Xuemao Wang, dean and university librarian, has established a search committee to assist in the recruitment of a director for the new University of Cincinnati Press. The formation of the UC Press was
in late May. The services of a professional search firm have been secured to assist in the search. This firm will work with the search committee to identify the most qualified candidates.
Sally Moomaw, associate professor of early childhood education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services (CECH) and chair-elect of the Faculty Senate, will serve as chair of the search committee. The rest of the search committee members are as follows:
- Daniel Ashwood, president, Graduate Student Governance
- Kevin Grace, head and university archivist, Archive & Rare Books Library
- John McNay, chair, professor of history, UC Blue Ash College
- Chip Montrose, vice provost and dean, The Graduate School
- Richard Puff, assistant vice president, Academic Health Center (AHC) Public Relations and Communications
- Kathy Qualls, senior vice provost for Academic Finance & Administration
- Leila Salisbury, director, University Press of Kentucky
- Renee Seward, associate professor of communication design, DAAP
- Victoria Wangia-Anderson, associate professor and health informatics program director
- Elissa Yancey, associate director, communications; director, special projects, A&S
- Earl Wright, professor, Department of Africana Studies; affiliate faculty, Department of Sociology

Katelin “Katie” Weitzel was first drawn to the University of Cincinnati by the esteemed College of Engineering and Applied Science, but her decision was solidified by the groundbreaking work of Dr. Dionysios Dionysiou in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Weitzel’s interest in water treatment came from growing up in Michigan and witnessing firsthand the impact of a water crisis. During her time at UC she has been awarded the Rindsberg Fellowship, a Graduate Student Award in Environmental Chemistry, and recently was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by CEAS.
