Giving Blood Rocks

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is working with Riverbend Music Center to reward blood donations with summer concert tickets.

Hoxworth hopes this summer promotion, which runs from June 1 through Aug. 16, will encourage donors to give blood and save lives in the community. Each donor who visits a specific Neighborhood Donor Center will get one free lawn ticket to a Riverbend concert this summer.

“Blood donations tend to fall as the temperatures rise,” says Alecia Lipton, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Center. “Our partnership with Riverbend Music Center allows donors to help patients in our community, and enjoy a free night of music in return.”

Lipton added that a drop in blood donations during the summer months is typical at Hoxworth, and this decrease in donations coupled with increased blood usage can have disastrous effects on the blood supply.

Help support Hoxworth at one of seven Neighborhood Donor Centers:

  • Friday, June 1: Donate at Hoxworth North and Hoxworth Blue Ash and receive one lawn ticket to the June 14 John Fogerty & ZZ Top concert.
  • Wednesday, June 13: Donate at Hoxworth Anderson and Hoxworth Ft. Mitchell to receive one lawn ticket to the June 21 Steve Miller Band & Peter Frampton concert.
  • Friday, July 20: Donate at Hoxworth Tri-County and Hoxworth West to receive one lawn ticket to the Aug. 8 Jeff Beck and Paul Rogers concert.
  • Thursday, August 16: Donate at Hoxworth Central and Hoxworth Anderson to receive one lawn ticket to the Sept. 1 Counting Crows & LIVE concert.

Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, appointments are encouraged. Donors should call 513-451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org to schedule their appointment.
