Nursing, Medicine Move up in US News Rankings
"We are a college on the rise, and that is because of the skills, expertise and commitment that each of you bring to the table each day, Glazer wrote in an email congratulating the faculty and staff of the college. "I hope that you feel proud to be a part of the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. We are ensuring that our students experience the education they need to graduate as some of the top nursing leaders in the country.
Only one other medical school rose as many spots as did the College of Medicine this year. The rankings also place the college 16th among the countrys public medical schools.
"I would like to thank everyone at the College of Medicine for their efforts in making this such a great school. With an incoming first-year class bearing a GPA that was the highest weve seen in at least the last 15 years to a wonderfully productive faculty and supportive staff, we should all be proud of this accomplishment. I am certain we can continue building on this and keep moving our college forward, William Ball, MD, interim vice president for health affairs and dean of the College of Medicine, said in congratulating the college.
"We also owe thanks to Dr. Tom Boat and all the faculty and staff who have worked so hard to get back on track. All I ask is that you work with me to help keep moving the needle forward. It has never been more evident that we have the right people, ability and resources to move to the next level. For not only the college itself but more importantly for ourselves, the faculty, students and staff, he added.
In specialty rankings, the College of Medicine was again No. 3 in pediatrics, a position it has held since 2007. The college also was ranked No. 78 for primary care.
US News has not updated its rankings for allied health and pharmacy colleges since 2012. The most recent rankings place the Winkle College of Pharmacy No. 32. The College of Allied Health Sciences has several highly ranked programs: Speech-Language Pathology at No. 35, Audiology at No. 37, Physical Therapy at No. 99 and Social Work at No. 104.
