Pins Recognize DPT Students' Accomplishment

The first academic year of the doctor of physical therapy program (DPT) at the University of Cincinnati is demanding and culminates with the students’ first clinical rotation.

"By finishing our first clinical, we've begun to practice as real clinicians and have started to make a name for ourselves professionally,” says doctor of physical therapy candidate Chris Brandner, class speaker at the College of Allied Health Sciences Department of Rehabilitation Sciences 2015 pinning ceremony.

The ceremony honors DPT students and marks the successful completion of both their first year academic year and their first clinical experience.

"Not everyone makes it. The ceremony recognizes our perseverance so far,” said Brandner, adding that this class strived to go above and beyond the normal call by attending optional conferences out of their own pockets and participated in independent community involvement.

What follows are a second and third year of equally demanding academics and experiential learning, along with three more clinical rotations.

"We have pride in our accomplishments so far and are striving to continue our excellence until graduation,” he said.

The doctorate track was approved by the Ohio Board of Regents in early 2007.
