College of Nursing Welcomes International Nursing Educator

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing welcomes to campus Professor Pauline Mella, a pioneer in nursing education who started the first Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Tanzania. Mella will present, "Nurses: A Force for Change in Health Care Systems—A Tanzania Perspective” on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 in Kresge Auditorium from noon to 1 p.m. 

Mella, who is internationally recognized for her significant contributions to nursing education and practice, is the former and founding dean of the faculty of nursing at Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her visit to UC is part of a larger trip to the United States. She will be in Boston later this week as keynote speaker of the Global Health Nursing Conference, and later this month, Mella is being inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nurses in Washington, D.C.
