Long recognized as a leader in environmental education with its graduate program in Environmental Engineering, the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is pleased to announce the Environmental Engineering Program (ENVE) now includes an undergraduate bachelor s degree. Applications are currently being accepted for the fall quarter, 2011.

Applications are due by March 1, 2011, for the WISE Summer Research Program for undergraduate women majoring in any of the university s mathematics, science, or engineering programs. These prized research positions are full time efforts that carry a $4,000 stipend and are accepted as co-op work experience.

UC students won a total of $15,000 at the local Cincinnati Innovates Awards. In the past three years, over 1,000 people have participated in the contest. This year the UC student team was one of only 12 teams to receive an award.

D. J. Albert, midfielder on the men's soccer team and a mechanical engineering student in the college's ACCEND program, is the Scholar-Athlete of the Month for August. Now in its fourth year, this award recognizes an athlete in a different sport each month who has demonstrated success on the field and in the classroom.

UC alumna Cindy Chiang, a 2004 graduate of the College of Engineering and Applied Science with a BA in biomedical engineering, will compete in this fall s reality TV show The Amazing Race.

UC has been awarded a $9.2 million National Science Foundation grant to develop and implement courses in partnership with local high schools to improve STEM education. The NSF grant allows the university to continue to provide leadership in engineering and STEM education locally, regionally and state wide.
