What Is Classics?

What is Africana Studies?

In the Africana studies major within UC’s College of Arts and Sciences, you will explore a variety of approaches to understand the experiences of African, African American, Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-European populations globally. This interdisciplinary program blends tools from sociology, psychology, literature, anthropology, politics, and history to address social issues affecting people of African descent across continents and diasporas.

UC will gather to honor alumni at 'Night with A&S'

Four outstanding alumni and donors will be celebrated on Wed., March 6 during UC’s annual Night with A&S event. The ceremony also recognizes all the donors who have contributed to the forward momentum and impact of UC’s College of Arts and Sciences, and will be hosted by Dean James Mack.

Three A&S alumni to be highlighted at 10th annual Onyx & Ruby Gala

This black-tie affair, a highlight of the UC Alumni Association's annual events, recognizes the achievements of Black alumni, faculty, staff, and students, awarding them with prestigious honors.

Black FUTURE month is here

The University of Cincinnati’s annual Black History Month celebration is back and better than ever. This year’s celebration has been renamed Black FUTURE Month by organizers, and includes something for everyone—from tours of historical Black churches to cosplays to Drink n’ Thinks, field trips and food.

UC‘s College of Arts and Sciences taps innovative new leadership

The College of Arts and Sciences announced Ryan J. White and Rina Williams as the newest divisional deans of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. White and Kennedy’s inclusion will bring new focuses and structure around student success and the college of Arts and Sciences’ advancement. Both will officially begin their new terms on Jan. 1, 2024.

A&S has no fewer than 15 five-year programs — from biological sciences to Spanish to psychology — where you can earn both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years, versus the traditional six-year track. The Bachelors and Master’s 4 + 1 Program is designed to increase your marketability and deepen your understanding of the subject matter. And in an increasingly competitive job market, you may want to investigate an additional year of study.
