Bearcats Bound Orientation (BBO) takes place prior to your first semester and aims to help all new incoming first-year students better connect with campus and other Bearcats. BBO consists of the following parts:
- Access your Canvas account (starting in early May)
- Attend a one-day in-person orientation on campus
- Schedule your advising appointment
Access Your Canvas Account
Canvas is UC’s primary learning management system. This is where your professors and instructors will share information and materials related to your classes. Canvas is also used for sharing other information and resources with students. As a new student to UC, you will have access to a module that will help you get acclimated to the university starting in early May. Once your module has been added to your account you will recieve an email to your UC email account. You can learn more about how to access Canvas on the Prepare for Orientation page.
Attend a One-Day In-Person Orientation
The in-person orientation gives you an introduction to campus life. During this part of BBO, you will get an overview of campus, see some of the buildings where you will have class during your first semester, attend sessions on different campus life topics, and meet other new Bearcats. You will also schedule your first academic advising appointment with your advisor. You can find in-person orientation dates and registration information in the Bearcat Portal.
