Experiential Learning Opportunities
- Shadowing: It is recommended, and actually required by some schools, that you shadow/observe dental professionals. We encourage you to shadow your own primary dentist as well as additional primary dentists and dental specialists. Ask your dentist for suggestions. Also, visit the ADA site for information on career mentoring.
- Manual dexterity: (from adea.org) "Dental school is a demanding environment that involves seamlessly blending science and art while developing, mastering and demonstrating prowess in a variety of areas—including manual dexterity. Understanding the significance of manual dexterity in dental careers will help students reconfirm if dentistry is the right fit."
