Why study Business Administration Business Analytics?
The University of Cincinnati Master of Science in Business Analytics program provides you with expertise in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. The Lindner MS program in Business Analytics seeks full-time and part-time students with quantitative or technical backgrounds (mathematics, engineering, statistics, science, economics, etc.) who are interested in pursuing careers in the fields of business analytics and data science. Work experience is not required to enter the program, which can be completed in less than a year.
The MS Business Analytics program is recognized as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) designated program, eligile for the 24-month OPT extension for international students.
Admission Requirements
Important Prerequisites for Business Analytics:
Three semesters, of four quarters, of college-level calculus through multivariate calculus. One course in linear algebra or matrix methods.
A basic knowledge of computer programming is not required for admission but must be acquired before starting the program. Examples of programming language include: C. C++, JAva, Matlab, Python, R, Ruby, SAS or Visual Basic.

Resume
Ensure your resume clearly lists the dates of any professional (ex: full-time role, internships, co-ops), volunteer, non-profit, or any other leadership experiences. There is no formatting requirement, however, please review your resume for any grammatical mistakes and it should not be longer than 2 pages.
Transcript
You must have a US bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or for international students the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree by the time of application. You may submit an unofficial copy of all of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts (and degree documents if applicable) with your application; official transcripts will be required if you're admitted and enroll. If you are an international applicant, you may be required to submit a NACES approved course by course evaluation of your transcript at the time of application. Please contact the Lindner Graduate Programs Office to see if this is a requirement for your program.
Essays
Please complete the following prompts:
- Describe a situation in your life which you have failed to achieve a goal. What did you learn from the experience? (Max 400 words)
- You just entered the elevator with a member of the Application Review Committee for the MS in Business Analytics. You can only speak to this person for a very short time on the elevator. What would you say to this individual so that they would look favorably upon your application? (Max 250 words)
Letters of Recommendation
Please select two recommenders who will be able to discuss your professional performance, academic performance, and/or work style. This can include previous supervisors, faculty members, or mentors. Letters of recommendation must come directly from the listed recommender on your application. IMPORTANT: Your application will not move forward in the review process until we receive both letters of recommendation.
Standardized Tests
Test scores provide a measure of your capabilities for the admissions committe to consider in reviewing your application holistically. The admissions committee accepts the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and GRE (Graduate Record Examiniation) test scores. Waivers considered on a case by case basis and must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- You have completed a graduate degree in a relevant field
- You have completed at least 6 graduate credits at University of Cincinnati with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- You have 7+ years or relevant work history with demonstrated advancement
Test scores must be sent officially from the testing agency.
Interview
Students are required to complete a virtual interview via the Kira Talent Platform. The interview is in the format of multiple mini-interviews (MMI).
Application Fee
Applicants are required to compete the $65 ($70 for international applicants) fee payment in order to complete their application.
Next Steps:
The program makes every effort to review and srespond to applicants in a timely manner, typically within two to three weeks of the application being completed. During peak periods, or very early in the admission cycle, additional review time may be needed.
More than 90% of graduates are employed within three months of graduation. Students are hired by leading employers such as Amazon, Disney, U.S. Bank, IBM, Kroger, Macy’s, Morgan Stanley, and Procter & Gamble. Recent graduates have accepted jobs in a wide variety of fields such as data science, consultancy, consumer analysis, and financial risk analysis.
As part of our continual focus on the real-world application of classroom learnings, corporate partners visit the University of Cincinnati campus each week to present seminars, to recruit, and to interview our Master of Science in Business Analytics students.
The degree of Master of Science in Business Analytics is granted to those who satisfactorily complete the required course work, carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. The degree must be completed within five years of acceptance into the program. All students must contract for graduation and be enrolled for at least one credit hour of study each academic year. Students must also be registered for at least one credit hour in the year of graduation.
Students can transfer up to 12 semester hours of graduate credit from an AACSB accredited university. The courses must have been taken within the past five years, with a grade of B or higher. Courses must be approved by the academic director.
English Proficiency
