Why study Environmental Health : Industrial Hygiene?
The Environmental and Occupational Hygiene division faculty maintain nationally and internationally recognized research programs in the broad areas of anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of workplace and environmental exposures. Specific research programs are devoted to the techniques for sampling chemical and biological aerosols, relationships between exposures and internal markers of effect, relationship between exposure and such chronic diseases as silicosis and lung cancer, occupational ergonomics, biomechanics, safety, relationship between workplace physical/chemical risk factors and workers’ neuromuscular performance, historic and current exposure assessment, characterization of lead exposures, environmental intervention studies, and effect of neurotoxic chemicals on neurobehavioral performance. M.S. students conduct independent research which advances their particular field of interest.

- Three Letters of Recommendation from individuals familiar with your academic or professional background.
- International applicants whose native language is not English (please refer to the International Office's English Proficiency Requirement, https://grad.uc.edu/fac-staff/handbook/graduate-admission/international-admission/english.html) must take the TOEFL exam and submit official scores directly from the testing agency.
- International transcripts should be evaluated by WES.
- Official transcripts of all colleges and universities must be submitted if accepted. These must be official, therefore copies cannot replace official records from higher educational institutions attended.

Only students applying to the full-time programs in Environmental and Industrial Hygiene are eligible to receive University Graduate Assistantship funding. This funding in not available for our part-time MS programs in Industrial Hygiene. Funding is generally only available in the Fall semester and any application to be considered for funding must be completed by February 1st.
