Membership Criteria and Nomination Procedure

Criteria for Election:

Full time member of the active UC faculty at the time of election, and demonstrated commitment in all of the following areas:

  • National/international professional stature supported by both internal and external letters of reference.
  • Extensive record of research/creative/scholarly works in chosen field of work, including publications, exhibitions, presentations, and other significant academic accomplishments.
  • Extensive record of significant contributions and commitment to graduate and/or post-graduate education, as evidenced by such activities as research mentoring, teaching, and/or oversight of graduate programs and activities.
  • Demonstrated record of significant leadership and service within or beyond the University as evidenced by but not limited to such activities as committee memberships, and/or leadership positions at the department, college, university or national levels.

Nomination Procedure:

Please send the nomination as a single pdf file to the chair of the membership committee, John Lorenz (lorenzjn@ucmail.uc.edu), by nomination deadline. For AY 2024-25, the deadline is November 1, 2024.

The nomination package should include the following items: 

  • Nomination form (DOCX)
  • Current CV
  • Letters of nomination from two graduate fellows (the two nominators should provide separate letters)
  • Up to four letters from external references (references from current and past collaborators, including former students, is discouraged)
  • Letters of nomination and support should adhere to the specific reasons for consideration as described in the membership criteria

Nomination Submission and Election:

The Membership Committee will review, discuss, and vote on the nominations. Those receiving at least 2/3rd positive votes will be sent to the entire membership for ratification. Names of the nominees receiving >2/3rd support from the Graduate Fellows will be sent to the Board of Trustees for ratification. Newly elected Fellows are recognized formally at the University Awards ceremony, which takes place each spring.
